Kate Wakeham

I am a creative design professional with 17 years experience and a real understanding of publishing and product development from all sides.

My passion for children's publishing, stationery and beautifully produced printed paper products has helped me to specialise in delivering high-quality solutions for a range of clients in licensed and non-licensed areas. For the last two years I have enjoyed working as a freelance designer and in consultancy roles, drawing on knowledge acquired as a company director to always exceed clients' expectations.

After starting out as a junior designer at Dorling Kindersley in 1994, working on Pocket Guides and educational workbooks, I moved to BBC Worldwide, where I spent three years working on high-profile children's books and DVDs including Teletubbies and Wallace & Gromit.

In 2000 I co-founded The Monster Factory Ltd. independent greeting card, stationery and gift company. As Creative Director I developed numerous award-winning product ranges, featuring iconic licenses such as Mr Men and The Beatles. This time also included developing new brands including (not so) Scary Monsters and I Love Yummy Things, in conjunction with retailers such as FAO Schwartz, WHSmith, Boots and TopShop.

Throughout my career I have developed a keen understanding of the need to enhance brand integrity while delivering original and creative work. Most recently this has included a return to children's publishing and new partyware projects.
