I am an experienced writer and publishing consultant, with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the children's book market. For the last nine years I have been working in a freelance capacity, specialising in licensed publishing, fiction and pre-school development. Previous to this I was in-post at BBC Worldwide as Creative Head of Children's Books, managing a publishing team of 20. At the BBC I oversaw a list of 120 book, audio and DVD releases a year, based on such global brands as Teletubbies, Wallace & Gromit and Harry Potter.

I began my career at Larousse Kingfisher, first learning my trade as an editor in the children's encyclopedia division before moving on to kids' information books, fiction and mass-market paperbacks. Although I have always stayed within children's publishing, I have developed a diverse variety of titles ranging from traditional picture books through to paper-engineered pop-ups.

In addition to my publishing commitments, until January 2009 I consulted two days a week at The Monster Factory Ltd - a small, but highly innovative gift and card manufacturer. My role including negotiating and contracting new character licenses, as well as helping to grow the business on both a short term and strategic level.

My passion for fine children's books and thoughtfully made, high quality licensed products grows with each new property that I work on. Whether it is a small one-off piece of writing, or a larger on-going project, I offer my clients absolute focus, inventive editorial solutions and an adaptable, child-friendly writing style.
